Adelante Club members had the opportunity April 17, to get a tour of Blackhawk Technical College and watch the Sky Carps play at the ABC Supply Stadium! Adelante members are Latino students who have been selected due to their merit and character. At BlackHawk, students were able to talk to Professors and explore the Surgical, Mechanic, and Firefighting fields, along with much more! Students were able to get a glimpse into the world of higher education! In speaking of careers, it was highlighted how wonderful it is to be bilingual and for students to be proud of both their languages! At the stadium, students were able to sit right behind first base, and see Sky Carp players play! It was truly exciting for students to see their heritage represented as the majority of players are Latino on the team! It was heartwarming seeing kids talk to players in Spanish and laughing together! Through this opportunity, students were able to see that dreams do come true and can truly envision themselves following their passions and seeing themselves represented! A special thank you to both Blackhawk and Sky Carps for giving our Adelante students this opportunity! Always moving forward to reach our dreams!
Our Adelante Club members truly represented Whitewater excellently! We are proud of our Whippets and learners!
Pink Shirt Day was started in 2007 by two high school students in Nova Scotia. When a fellow classmate wore a pink shirt to school and was bullied for it, two boys took action and took a stand against the bullies. They distributed pink shirts to their classmates, and all wore them to school the next day in solidarity. International Day of Pink is a day to raise awareness of the harmful impacts of bullying and promote compassion, kindness, and inclusivity. In honor of Pink Shirt Day, please join the student council in wearing pink. Once again we will have the office staff judge during the First hour for the students dressed with the most enthusiasm.

I apologize for the early-morning delay. I know that is hard on families, that is why I really try to make the call the night prior if possible. I will be watching conditions closely through the day. Ice/sleet wintery mix is difficult to predict as the call is more about the impact than the conditions. I am confirming we will begin school following the 2 hour delay:
9:50 Elementary
9:55 MS
9:50 HS (see alt schedule for finals sent out by Mr. Mansky)
WUSD Staff and Families: In consultation with our bus company, we are very concerned about earlier-than-expected icing on the roads that will make it dangerous for our buses and the commute to school. (County A is currently closed by the Duck Inn due to icing.) We will be initiating a 2-hour delay and reassessing if school can start safely. AM 4K will be canceled.
Whitewater Unified School District will be closed on Friday, January 12, 2024 due to a Winter Storm Warning that is tracking heavy snow that will impact travel during school hours. All before and after-school athletics and activities for Friday will also be canceled.
